After the opening parade which highlighted the success of sports in the college the events of the day got underway with the finals of the sprint events.

The much awaited tussle for the fastest runner of the College for the year 2012 saw a keen battle for the top spot with the last years’ fastest runner Master Praveen Salinda Fernando being edged out by a newcomer to school Master Gamidu Thabrew.

During the interval the Senior Western Brass Band of the College was there to entertain those present at the annual athletic meet with their music.

Alban House was adjudged as the best decorated House.

In his address the chief guest told the students that to achieve success in any field one must make personal sacrifices and by engaging in sports activities the student learns how to make personal sacrifices for the sake of his team and its team members as sports usually is a team work.

After a tough and closely contested battle Delasalle House was able to secure the championship for the second consecutive year with 340 points while Alban House was the runners up with 306 points. Bonaventure House was placed 3rd with 243 points with Luke House being placed 4th with 239 points.

Mr. Supun Weerasinghe with Mrs. Weerasinghe gave away the awards to the winners.

Very Rev. Fr. Bonnie Fernandopulle, Rector / Principal of the College ably assisted by Mr. Jayashantha Fernando the sports coordinator, who worked tirelessly day in and day out, together with the priestly community and the staff members worked hard to make the athletic meet a successful one.

The masters in charge of the houses Mr. Mahesh Kulathilake, Mr. Gayan Hettiarachchi & Mr. Romesh Fernando (Delasalle), Mr. Damien Silva, Mr. Vimukthi Fernando & Mr. Amila Aponsu (Alban), Mr. Brian Fernando, Mr. Suranga Atapattu, & Mr. Lalindra De Silva Wijeyarathne (Bonaventure) and Mr. Niroshan Jude Fernando, Mr. Jude Sujeewa Silva & Mr. Saman Fernando (Luke) also worked tirelessly with the students of their respective houses.
