The Junior Prefects of St. Sebastian’s
College, Moratuwa was started in 1995. It was
under the guidance of Rev. Brother Charles Dodanwela
the Principal of the college.
The Prefects were selected by the Staff. Nominations
were called & evaluated the performances
of those who have applied for this post. Fifteen
Students of grade nine were selected, including
the Head Prefect and the Deputy Head Prefect.
Initially Mr. Bertrem Fernando was in charge
of Junior Prefects. The Prefects Oath on the
Loyalty day and the badges are given on the
same day.
The duties of Junior Prefects are to see the
general discipline of Grades 6, 7 & 8 students
during specific times such as - till the morning
classes start, during the interval and when
the school is over. They also have to attend
school functions such as - sports meets big
matches, prize giving’s, teacher's jubilee
celebrations and also for the funerals of the
staff, old boys, students, etc.
The ego of a Junior Prefect is to have leadership
qualities and work to the entire satisfaction
of the school authorities and to live up to
the trust & confidence. They must also be
an example to their fellow students, by good
moral character.
Therefore Junior Prefects are a great asset
to the school. They will lead the foot path
to live with a spirit of a true Sebastianite.
