College Rules

The Principal of St. Sebastian's College, in accordance with the dictates of prudence and good order, has deemed fit to enact the following regulations.

  • Punctual attendance is required of all students. No absence is tolerated without previous authorization from the Principal who may grant it only for serious reasons. Suitable penalties may be imposed in case of unauthorized absence from College.
  • Should any student get absent from school either for term test or any function of the school, his parents will be required to see the Principal personally to submit an explanation before the student goes back to the class. No letters of excuse submitted by a student will be accepted in this instance.
  • No student will be permitted to leave school premises during school hours, unless in an emergency in which case the parents should make a note in the Record Book. Request through strangers will not be entertained.
  • As the College is intended to educate only youths disposed to act up to its rules and regulations, no student will be retained who persists in being obstinate, who is addicted to bad habits or who exercises an unwholesome influence over others. The Principal need not give reasons for the dismissal of such pupils.
  • Students are required to practice the religion to which they belong, declared at the time of admission.
  • The school uniform for students in the primary section is blue shorts and white shirt with a pocket badge. The uniform for students in the middle section is white shorts and white shirt with a pocket badge. The secondary section students should wear white longs and white shirt with a pocket badge.
  • No meetings or demonstrations by students are permitted within or outside the school premises unless with the permission of school authorities.
  • Every student is expected to observe the code of good manners and behavior as laid down by the school authorities.
  • The College authorities reserve to themselves the right of examination of all correspondence.
  • All damages caused to school property by the students, must be paid by them.
  • Every parent should consider it both a right and a duty to visit the school periodically and meet the Principal and teachers who will acquaint them with the progress made by their children.
  • Parents are advised to exercise a close supervision over students activities outside the school. Observance of regular hours of study at home is recommended.
  • At the time of admission of a student to the College to parents are compulsorily requested to obtain membership of the School Development Society, which will expire when the student leaves the school.
  • Parents should be exemplary in the way they dress themselves when they come to the school.
  • Parents must attend the Parents' Meetings when informed.
  • Parents could meet the teachers only on the last Wednesday of the month. In case, a public holiday falls on that day, the first Thursday of the next month could be accommodated for the purpose.
  • Parents could meet the Principal on any Wednesday between 8.30 am - 1.30 pm.
